Sea World Prague
Located at the Výstaviště (Exhibition Grounds) in Prague -Holešovice, Sea World Prague is the largest of its kind in the Czech Republic, and makes for a great excursion with young children. Opened in 2002 as a small scale sea aquarium is became extremely popular with the public and quickly grew into its current size.
There is a giant fish tank containing 100,000 liters of seawater, and rising 8 meters, is decorated with 4.5 tons of coral. It is illuminated by special lights, replacing the natural sunlight during the day and the moonlight at night. In this aquarium you can see an array of beautiful fish feeding off the coral. The highlight of the aquarium is a Sand Shark, one of the most feared sea predators after the Great White Shark. It grows to a length of 3.5 meters and can weigh up to 180 kilos.
Other two tanks are a home to carpet sharks, rays with poison-carrying spines, 2 meter long moray eels and a variety of other fish. Among other attractions is a tank holding a replica of the HMS Bounty and a tank containing a lighthouse modeled after the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in North Carolina.
